PROBLEM

Two Classic Design Brief Examples

Example 1

The creator of 'Adventure Time' has approached me personally to ask me to create a stop-motion animation. It will serve as a short interlude for each episode, and so must be 30 seconds long and is aimed at 2-14 year olds. Obviously, it must not be violent and must contain no inappropriate things. It should focus on anything mythical and interesting.

Example 2

The whole universe is meeting at a conference to determine who is the best at making an animation. I have been nominated as Earth's best and therefore I need to use Earth materials (applications like Pivot) to develop a 30 second animation about how Earth is a cool planet. This must be understood by school aged children (as aliens can't be bothered to learn full English). It must not be inappropriate in any way, so that war does not begin.

Two of my own examples

My personal design brief (example 1)

My technology teacher has asked me to create an animation that can focus on anything for a school assessment. It must be 30 seconds long minimum and 2 minutes long maximum and not be inappropriate for someone my age. I will need to use animation applications (Linerider, Flip Book etc) to make this.

My personal design brief (example 2)

There is a national competition which asks school students to design 30 second to 2 minute long animations about anything. It must be non violent and not inappropriate and animation applications must be used. I have been entered by my school and must make a good reputation for my school.

My Final Design Brief

I have been asked by Knox Grammar School to develop an animation which showcases the best of school and its work. It must be no longer than 2 minutes and contain no inappropriate content yet be appropriate for school aged children.

Areas of Investigation

Criteria for Success

The Animation must be no longer than 2 minutes
The Animation must not be inappropriate
The Animation must be made using predetermined applications.
The Animation must suit my standards of quality.
