Flip Animation

Flip Animation

In this part of our tech unit, we will learn about how to work and utilize Flip Book.

Research will both cover prac and theory work on Flip Book. This includes:

  • An overview of your animation structure
  • What we are going to use the software for
  • A PMI (Positive, Minus, Interesting)
  • How to use the program
  • What animation type the software is
  • An example of the software
  • A short evaluation based on your experience

Flip Book Evaluation

Flip Book is an animation software that allows the creator to create separate slides of different photos and merge them together in chronological order to make a creation, which is also used in claymation. Flip Books are not separate books, but usually appear in page corners to entertain the reader. Flip Book animations are common in custom software packages.

I will set myself a small design brief and use the software to solve that problem

Positive

This software is free, easy to use and quick to get the grasp of

Minus

You need an account to make more than 100 frames and sometimes it can be very long and boring

Interesting

The merging of the flip book into other places is easy and nice

How to use the program

You need to access the website by accessing flip book online. From this, you can use 100 frames to develop any animation you want, with many different colours and many different brush sizes to make what you want. When you are done, you can preview it or undo and delete things that you do not like. In the end, just left click and select copy to put it anywhere you like.

You use your mouse to draw objects and select arrows to select frames. Duplicating frames makes them last longer and different colours and brush strokes give it variety.

Evaluation

This software is highly effective for producing easy-to-use animation, however the process it takes and what it can be used to make is highly limited and boring after a short time.
